NEW GALP HEADQUARTERS

The new Galp headquarters, located in Alcântara, next to LX Factory, in the ALLO building – Alcântara Lisbon Offices, reveals an architecture characterized by a dynamic inspired by the brand’s innovative character. Spaces designed to enhance creativity and collaboration between teams, reflecting the company’s commitment to people and the future.

The space, designed by Openbook, in partnership with Tétris, showcases Galp’s forward-thinking vision, commitment to innovation, sustainability and concern for employee well-being. A fact to which the importance given to plants in the decoration is not unrelated, both in interior areas and in outdoor spaces and on the rooftop, planted and maintained by dedicated teams from Horto do Campo Grande.

The entire interior was designed with organic forms that the building’s transparency allows to be projected to its exterior.

Integrated into the decoration of different interior environments, the presence of plants is a constant, and even in spaces where there are no plants their presence is felt through the enormous windows that allow them to be viewed outside.

The selection of indoor plants focused on species with impactful foliage, of different sizes and shades of green, and adapted to the light conditions of different environments, bringing naturalness to the spaces: Ficus elastica, Kentia forsteriana, Monstera deliciosa, Phlebodium aureum, Spathiphyllum and Strelitzia nicolai, planted in custom-made Horto Collection metal planters, either to fit into the various carpentry pieces used in decorating the spaces, such as benches or room dividers, or as decorative pieces themselves, cylindrical in shape, of different dimensions, and customized color, integrate with the colors, materials and finishes of the different decorative elements, all carefully studied to create an attractive and stimulating workspace.

Outside, both in the planters surrounding the balconies and those on the rooftop, native species were chosen, adapted to the Mediterranean climate, which do not have high water requirements, and which combined together create harmonious sets with different textures and varied shades of green: Lantana, Loropetalum, Myrtus communis, Pittosporum variegata, Rosmarinus, Stipa and Westringia fruticosa decorate the rooftop perimeter. In the rest of this ample space, two planters with Olive trees and Lavandulas stand out, as well as two bed areas decorated with larger species such as Abelia, Curio ficoides, Crassula, Lavandula, Phormium variegata, Pittosporum nana, Santolina and also Trachelospermum jasminoides climbers, which in the future will expand across the pergola coverings, creating a sensation of greater freshness in the environments.

The plantings were mostly done in custom-made Horto Collection galvanized sheet metal planters with customized color and anti-corrosion finish. All plants, in a portfolio of dozens of different species and hundreds of installed plants, are maintained by Horto do Campo Grande, by a team that cares for their growth and keeps them healthy and lush – cleaning, pruning, weeding, digging, thinning and phytosanitary treatments that are ensured by specialized gardeners. The outdoor planters are equipped with a drip irrigation system, which with the support of an irrigation programmer, allows irrigation to be adjusted to weather conditions, avoiding water waste and keeping plants healthy.

For Horto do Campo Grande it is always an enormous challenge and pleasure to promote and participate in the integration of landscape architecture and biophilic design in architectural projects for new buildings, particularly in this impressive project in Lisbon, already distinguished with several renowned awards:

  • National Real Estate Award, Honorable Mention in the “Offices” category;
  • Expresso/SIC Notícias Real Estate Award, in the “Best Development” category;
  • CONSTRUIR 2023 Awards, in the “Sustainability” category;
  • Honorable Mention by the prestigious Architecture MasterPrize, among others.

It is also a great pride to continue fulfilling one of our missions: contributing every day to a greener and more sustainable city for everyone.
