Of different species, ages, and sizes, bonsai are true living sculptures that bring creativity to your décor. But transforming a tree into a miniature work of art requires specialized care. To help you, the Campolide Bonsai Center at Horto do Campo Grande guides you on this journey into the oriental world.

With ancient origins, bonsai is a set of horticultural and sculptural practices that allows you to grow a miniature tree in a pot. With the help of growth control techniques, a tree can grow in a pot and resemble its original appearance through the art of bonsai. Since this is a technique that requires a lot of time and dedication, it’s essential to choose the bonsai that best suits your lifestyle.
In our Stores and Garden Centers you can find a wide selection of bonsai from the Orient (Japan, China, and Korea) and Mediterranean production (Spain and Italy).
If you already have a bonsai but it needs specialized care, leave it with us at the Campolide Bonsai Center. We offer boarding and hospital services.

Choose One of Our Bonsai
THE RIGHT BONSAI
Knowing in advance the space that will accommodate the bonsai can help you choose the most suitable species. Generally, bonsai are outdoor species that adapt well to climate changes, but if you choose an outdoor species, remember that it’s essential to place it in an area sheltered from the wind. Indoors, a bonsai can adapt equally well as long as it receives some care, particularly regarding sun exposure.
Pseudolarix Bonsai | Outdoor
Deciduous Foliage

In summer, be careful with direct sun to avoid burning the leaves.
This is a sensitive bonsai. Ideal for bonsai masters who enjoy challenges.
CREATIVITY AND… LOTS OF DEDICATION
A bonsai can be created using various methods until it reaches its ideal size. The goal is to achieve a small-scale replica of the tree you selected. Choosing the shape you want to give your miniature and making it last over time is one of the greatest challenges of the art of bonsai. Care related to watering, pruning, fertilizing, repotting, and wiring techniques will help your bonsai live for many years. Selecting a suitable pot is another aspect to consider to ensure healthy root development. Having a toolkit nearby (ranging from scissors to pliers, rakes, and tweezers) will certainly be a great ally for the correct and continuous maintenance of a bonsai.
Apple Tree Bonsai | Outdoor
Deciduous tree. Needs bright light to grow strong and healthy. Winter is the ideal time for pruning. In May the flowers bloom and in summer small apples appear. Very hardy!
