Terrace Project in Central Lisbon

Redevelopment project for a 300m² terrace, designed to meet the owners’ needs as a comfortable, multifunctional relaxation and leisure space, focused on unwinding, well-being, and recreation.

Integrated Concept and Design

The project included the creation of different areas, from the dining area with barbecue to the social and leisure zone, including a space for children’s games and the creation of a small herb garden. Special attention was given to the area supporting the main suite, where a more reserved and private zone was created. The use of Horto Collection planters was crucial to define the various zones and create subtle separations without cutting visibility between spaces.

Custom-Made Horto Collection Planters

These planters are manufactured with high-quality materials and waterproofed with fiberglass, ensuring durability and resistance. Additionally, the integrated drainage system prevents root rot, providing efficient and sustainable water management. Being custom-made, they fit perfectly with the terrace layout and division, and allow for the placement of plants of different sizes. The choice of this type of planter aimed not only at aesthetics but also at preserving the building slab’s waterproofing.

Planting and Sustainability

The planting was carefully planned to create a green and harmonious environment, with a selection of species that adapt to the terrace conditions and Lisbon’s climate. Plants such as Strelitzia augusta, Asparagus densiflorus, Phormium tenax, and Agave attenuata were used to create subtle separations in the living and dining areas, while species like Pittosporum tobira nana and Thymus vulgaris enriched the botanical diversity, creating contrasts of color and texture. The choice to use artificial grass aimed to reduce maintenance and watering needs, making the space more sustainable and avoiding potential leaks.

With a perfect balance between aesthetics, functionality, and sustainability, the terrace transforms into an extension of the home, a space where residents can enjoy nature and the outdoors in complete comfort.
