At Oeiras Marina, Bugio featured Horto do Campo Grande’s expertise in the plant decoration of its spaces, through a bespoke proposal designed by Vera Quintas, Eng. The green solutions were designed for both indoors and outdoors, matching the restaurant’s identity and creating more natural, defined, and comfortable environments.

Part of the Grupo Praia, Bugio was born with a very specific purpose. Designed specifically for the daytime, it takes advantage of its prime seaside location and open views over the Tagus and the Atlantic, right in front of the São Lourenço do Bugio Fort. The concept focuses on relaxed, Mediterranean-inspired meals, with an atmosphere that invites you to linger over lunch on the terrace, stop for a drink in the late afternoon, and stay a little longer, without any rush.

With a total area of around 750 m², the restaurant is spread across a versatile indoor space and a large panoramic balcony, where the connection with the outdoors is particularly important. It was precisely this connection between the interior and the terrace that guided the work developed by Horto do Campo Grande, seeking to create visual continuity, framing, and a touch of natural protection.
The Horto Collection planters, custom-designed and produced, play an essential role here. In addition to enhancing the plants they hold, they help structure the space, creating soft barriers and offering more privacy in a natural way. Their integration was designed based on the restaurant’s architecture and the daily use of the space, ensuring a functional and discreet result without losing its lightness.

The plant selection took into account the specific conditions of each area, from sun exposure to the proximity to the sea and the flow of people using the space. Indoors, the presence of plants complements the decor and reinforces the overall look. Outdoors, it extends the restaurant’s atmosphere and helps connect the terrace to the surrounding landscape, in a setting that anticipates summer days by the coast.
The cuisine, by Lúcio Bastos, explores flavors from southern Italy, Greece, the Algarve, and Ibiza, in a menu that fits naturally into this setting. Fresh fish, grilled meats, pasta, and seasonal vegetables find a space here designed for comfort, while the green decor contributes to the experience and the way Bugio is enjoyed throughout the day.

“This project required a very careful reading of the space, especially because of the way the interior extends onto the balcony and the need to create more distinct zones without interrupting the flow of the whole. We looked for green solutions that met the technical requirements of each area and reinforced the restaurant’s identity, while always maintaining a natural, light, and functional presence,” says Vera Quintas, Eng., from the Green Space Design and Construction Department at Horto do Campo Grande.
