Spend a few days on a hill in the Alentejo with friends or family, enjoying the unobstructed views that extend tothe sea, with Pessegueiro Island on the horizon. Go horse riding along deserted beaches, play a game of paddle tennis and enjoy a drink at sunset… All this is possible at Monte da Bemposta!

Located on the Costa Vicentina opposite Pessegueiro Island, Monte da Bemposta is an agro-tourism resort that combines the serenity of the Alentejo plains with the freshness of the sea and offers a wide range of activities, such as horse riding along the sands or yoga.

Its proximity to the sea makes Monte da Bemposta the ideal refuge for those who also enjoy surfing, diving or spearfishing. But in a place like Porto Covo, the experiences are endless. For lovers of hiking, the paths with surrounding vegetation around the hill delight visitors, but a visit to the Fishermen’s Trail is irreplaceable: it’s one of the best coastal trails in the world!

Surrounded by eucalyptus trees, Monte da Bemposta has two floodlit paddle tennis courts so that lovers of the sport can play until nightfall. For those who prefer a more relaxing experience, this small refuge in Porto Covo also offers different massages, yoga classes and Reiki practice, by appointment.

At Monte da Bemposta, you can choose to round off your days with more relaxing activities or, if you prefer, a good dose of adrenaline. Horse riding along the sandy beaches or carriage rides through the countryside are unique experiences that you can enjoy during your stay.

“For Monte da Bemposta we designed the entire surrounding area of this rural holiday resort, making the most of its privileged natural conditions, in an aesthetic language that is very much in tune with the traditional architecture of the resort and the surrounding landscape. In this way, we chose to shape the land in certain peripheral areas in order to recreate the natural morphology of the coastal landscape, while also managing to give some privacy to those who come to enjoy this space, while maintaining the marvellous sea views.

In order to maintain the character of the site and reinforce its sustainability, we have selected a plant cast that is mainly indigenous, of medium-low size and with a pioneer coating, thus allowing for the future occurrence of natural vegetation that will be selectively maintained. Travelling around the property is easy for all types of users, through the walking paths created for both support vehicles and pedestrians, on compacted (permeable) gravel paving, bordered by fragant Mediterranean vegetation and a few trees, providing shade and soft aromas for those who walk along them.

The large swimming pool is flanked by a vast solarium made of rustic tiles, where shade has been provided by pergolas made from natural materials such as wood and wicker mats. In addition to the vegetation, animals are essential in the countryside, which is why you can also find large enclosed spaces with rustic wooden fencing, where guests can have close contact with various species of animals, such as lamas, alpacas, donkeys and the horses that live here

The transition areas to the natural landscape have been sown with meadows, where spontaneous wildflowers sprout, reminding us of the passing of the seasons, making it possible to install tents and support structures for events or weddings when necessary.”
