ACHIEVEMENT: HORTO DO CAMPO GRANDE STRENGTHENS ITS ROLE IN FIDELIDADE’S FUTURE HEADQUARTERS

After taking on the delivery of the rooftop landscaping for Fidelidade’s future headquarters, Horto do Campo Grande has now also been selected to implement the interior planting component, as well as ensure its maintenance, strengthening its involvement in one of the most emblematic buildings currently under construction in Lisbon.

Fidelidade’s future headquarters, in Entrecampos, Lisbon, stands out as one of the largest business developments currently underway in the capital. With around 60,000 m² of gross construction area and more than 39,000 m² of gross lettable area, the complex was designed to establish a close relationship between architecture, sustainability, innovation and the city, with the aim of achieving LEED Platinum, WELL Platinum and WiredScore Platinum certifications.
From an architectural and landscape perspective, the project is authored by PROMONTÓRIO, with Gensler as Lead Consultant, as indicated in the project’s technical sheet. The building was designed to open up to the surrounding urban area, with a central element in the form of a square that links the Rego neighbourhood to Avenida 5 de Outubro and incorporates areas accessible to the community.

After being responsible for delivering the rooftop (on the top floor of this emblematic building), Horto do Campo Grande now sees the trust placed in its work further reinforced, with the award of the contract to deliver the biophilic design for the building’s interior spaces as well.
In the exterior area already completed, the selection of species responds to the different exposure conditions of the terraces, taking into account north, east, south and west orientations. Species used include lavenders, carex, rosmarinus, croton, verbena, rudbeckia, myrtus, armeria and various ornamental grasses. These are complemented by lemon trees, acers and tree ferns, creating a composition that is diverse in texture, colour and form, suited to the characteristics of each area.
With the landscape concept authored by Promontório, Horto do Campo Grande is responsible for its execution, including the installation of Horto Collection planters, custom-made by Horto do Campo Grande in accordance with the technical specifications defined for the project. The elements incorporate dedicated recesses to conceal irrigation pipework, enabling careful integration of technical systems within the planting composition.

This new stage of the intervention now extends this experience to the interior spaces, covering the installation of the planting component and its maintenance, and expanding HCG’s participation in a project of significant scale and technical demand. The work developed across architecture, engineering and landscaping requires a precise response to the characteristics of each environment, ensuring that the planting component integrates coherently into the overall scheme.
For Vera Clara, Head of the Project and Construction of Green Spaces Department at Horto do Campo Grande, “a project of this scale requires strong coordination between design and execution. Our role is to turn the planned solutions into built solutions, ensuring that materials, irrigation systems and plant species effectively respond to the conditions of each space”.
Filipa Costa Almeida, Head of the Interior Decoration and Maintenance Department at Horto do Campo Grande, highlights in turn that “in interior spaces, choosing and installing the planting component is only the beginning. It is essential to ensure that each solution is adapted to the light conditions, use and maintenance requirements of each space, to ensure its quality and longevity”.
Securing this new scope of work reinforces Horto do Campo Grande’s capacity to respond to large-scale, high-demand projects, integrating landscape execution, bespoke solutions and maintenance within ongoing project support.
