Do you remember this project? In May 2025, we presented on our blog the landscape project for this villa in Quinta da Marinha, Cascais. At the time, the garden was still taking shape. Now, the landscape is already a different one: the vegetation has grown, the different areas have begun to relate to one another, and the intervention is nearing completion.
The villa, designed by Bernardes Arquitetura, features clean-lined architecture and a strong relationship between the built spaces and the surrounding natural setting. Construction was carried out by Osborne Construtora, while the landscape design was developed by Hanazaki Paisagismo, founded and led by the renowned Brazilian landscape architect Alex Hanazaki.
It is precisely in the way architecture and landscape meet that this project becomes particularly compelling. Alex Hanazaki’s work is defined by a nature-sensitive approach, seeking to establish relationships between vegetation, built space, and human experience. It was this vision that underpinned the design of this garden and guided its execution by Horto do Campo Grande.

For HCG, taking part in a project of this nature meant taking on the responsibility of moving from drawing to reality: interpreting the landscape design, respecting its intent, and building on site a landscape capable of accompanying the villa’s architecture.
Now, that evolution is particularly evident. The garden is at an advanced stage of execution and appears far greener and fuller, making it possible to see more clearly the relationship between the outdoor areas, the vegetation, and the villa itself.
The garden is currently under HCG maintenance; this continuity naturally plays a very important role in the garden’s evolution and in the successful establishment of the vegetation.

The link between building a garden and its subsequent maintenance is fundamental and, although ensured by different HCG teams specialized in each area, there is a handover between departments that guarantees continuity in the garden’s follow-up after the work is completed and enables very positive results.
“In this case, that follow-up allows the maintenance team to know, from the outset, the choices made on site, the characteristics of the vegetation and the systems installed, and to monitor their adaptation and development, contributing to the result we are able to show today,” shares Eng. Vasco Pyrrait, HCG Maintenance Manager, Sintra–Cascais area.
This work also represents what we do in the Projects and Green Spaces Construction department: delivering demanding landscape architecture projects, working in coordination with architects, landscape architects, and the other teams involved in the project, says Vera Clara, Landscape Architect in the Horto do Campo Grande Projects and Green Spaces Construction Department.
