Family: Berberidaceae
Origin: China
Description: Mahonia Media Charity is known for its evergreen leaves, i.e. leaves that don’t fall off in autumn but remain green and active all year round. It is also notable for the contrast in colour between its green leaves and its yellow flowers.
Its yellow flowers usually appear between February and March and attract bees and other pollinators, making it perfect for gardens seeking biodiversity.
After flowering, the plant produces dark blue berries that once again contrast with the green of the leaves and the yellow of the flowers.
Lighting: Direct sunlight for most of the day and filtered light the rest of the time.
Watering: Once it has adapted to the environment, frequent watering is not necessary.
Fertilisation: Drained, moist soil
Not Pet-friendly: Toxic if berries are ingested. Keep out of reach of children and pets.
