Aglaonema’s trademark are its large, showy leaves in different colours and patterns. It’s an indoor plant, perfect for those taking their first steps into the world of plants, as it’s very easy to look after. Aglaonema is one of the plants of choice for decorating offices and shopping centres, as it adapts easily to environments with little light. They are great for purifying the air, filtering out toxins. At home, try to keep them at an ambient temperature of between 18º and 22ºC. And don’t forget, it’s very important not to let Aglaonema near air conditioning, as it can’t stand cold, dry or windy weather.
Watering: Aglaonema prefers little water and can tolerate periods without watering. The best way to check if the plant needs water is to do the “finger test”, inserting it about 3cm into the soil and only watering if you find it dry.
Lighting: Aglaonema prefers places with indirect light. Avoid placing Aglonema in direct sunlight, as it can burn the leaves.
Fertilisation: Aglaonema requires fertile soil. Therefore, use a fertile, soft substrate to help it grow.
Not Pet Friendly: This plant is considered toxic to dogs and cats due to the presence of insoluble calcium oxalates, which can cause severe irritation if ingested.
