Origin: China
Common names: Large-leaved aspidistra
Family: Asparagaceae
Of Asian origin, the Aspidistra has showy, dark green, glossy foliage. It loves a mild climate with humidity and plenty of light. The challenge lies in keeping its leaves looking shiny, and for this it is essential to find the right place for the Aspidistra. Indoors, this plant tends to weaken and outdoors it can get sunburned by the cold and sun. So place the Apisdistra on a patio, terrace or porch, in shade or half shade, with an ambient temperature of between 13º and 29ºC.
Watering: Keep the substrate moist between waterings, but never soaked.
Light: Half shade/full shade.
Fertilisation: Fertile, drainable soil, enriched with organic matter. Fertilising, which should ideally be done in spring and summer, encourages the development of lush foliage.
