Busy Lizzie – Impatiens 'New Guinea' (19 cm pot)
Impatiens, commonly known as New Guinea Impatiens or Maria-sem-Vergonha, is a compact, highly floriferous herbaceous plant valued for its large, showy flowers and dense, elongated, ornamental foliage. Depending on the variety, the flowers can display different shades of pink, red, coral, or white.
With abundant, prolonged flowering during the milder and warmer months, it is an excellent option for pots, planters, and beds, providing colour even in spaces that do not receive sun all day.
If you wish for a specific flower colour, add this request to the “notes” before payment. Our team will try to meet your request, however we cannot guarantee the shipment of the indicated color as it depends on the stock available at the time of the order.

CUIDADOS
Light: Prefers partial shade or locations with plenty of light, tolerating a few hours of gentle direct sun, especially in the morning. In Portugal, it should be protected from intense sun during the hottest hours, especially during summer.
Temperature: Prefers mild to warm temperatures and is sensitive to cold and frost. In Portugal, it should be protected from lower temperatures during winter.
Watering: Regular, keeping the substrate slightly moist but never waterlogged. During warmer periods, especially when grown in pots, it may require more frequent watering. Avoid allowing the substrate to dry out completely for prolonged periods.
Humidity: Appreciates some ambient humidity, though good air circulation should be maintained. Avoid permanently humidity-saturated environments.
Soil/Substrate: Fertile, rich in organic matter, light, and well-drained.
Fertilisation: During the growth and flowering period, regularly apply a fertiliser suitable for flowering plants, following the dosage and frequency indicated by the manufacturer.
Pruning/Maintenance: Remove dry and damaged leaves, flowers, or stems. If necessary, light pruning of the tips can be done to encourage a more compact habit and stimulate branching.
Flowering: Abundant and prolonged, generally from spring through autumn, as long as temperatures remain favourable. In mild, protected conditions, flowering may extend further.
Life cycle: Perennial in tropical climates, but frequently grown as an annual in temperate regions due to its sensitivity to cold.
Pet Friendly: Impatiens is considered non-toxic to dogs and cats by the ASPCA. Even so, it is not recommended to allow pets to ingest ornamental plants.
Curiosity: New Guinea Impatiens show good resistance to downy mildew, a disease that particularly affects traditional Impatiens walleriana. Their combination of ornamental foliage, abundant flowering, and tolerance to partial shade makes them especially interesting for bringing colour to balconies, patios, and garden areas with less direct sun exposure.
AVAILABLE COLOURS
