On March 14th, Horto do Campo Grande opened its doors to an initiative with a very special meaning. In partnership with Banco do Bebé, the “Knitting and Weaving with the Heart” workshop was held once again—a gathering where creativity joined forces with solidarity to support a greater cause.
Banco do Bebé, founded in 1991 at the Dr. Alfredo da Costa Maternity Hospital, was a pioneer in Portugal in responding to the needs of babies from vulnerable families, supporting them from birth until the age of six. Its mission is to ensure dignified conditions at the start of life and to support families in their roles, promoting emotional and material stability.
Throughout the day, participants with different levels of experience came together around the art of knitting and weaving. There were those taking their first steps and those sharing existing skills, all within an atmosphere of mutual help and enthusiasm. Between threads and needles, unique pieces emerged, crafted with dedication and full of meaning, each one designed to contribute directly to the support of a family receiving home care.

The workshop was led by Manuela Carrondo and Sandra Soares, whose availability and commitment made it possible to create an accessible, engaging, and inspiring learning space. The session took place in a bright room surrounded by plants, a setting that enhanced the well-being and connection between all participants.
