This is a tradition dating back to the 2nd century, in which Christians had the habit of praying for the deceased, with the hope of saving their souls. And in the 11th century, Popes Sylvester II, John XVIII, and Leo IX advised Christians to dedicate one day a year to pray for those who had already passed away. Later, in the 13th century, the date became officially celebrated on November 2 by the Catholic Church, one day after All Saints’ Day.

Chrysanthemum bouquet

Chrysanthemum bunch

The tradition continues.
