The result is this vigorous-growing cypress, resistant to disease and harsh weather conditions, and it also tolerates a wide range of soil types. It\u2019s a green-foliage plant that keeps its colour for almost the whole year and, thanks to its characteristics (namely fast growth and wind resistance), it\u2019s a very versatile conifer: it\u2019s used to create hedges\/living fences, and it\u2019s also an excellent option as a windbreak, to provide privacy, or to define areas in outdoor spaces. As it\u2019s elegant and beautiful, it can be planted on its own, but it\u2019s also commonly used to create living sculptures.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Scientific name<\/strong>: <em>Cupressus leylandii<\/em><br \/><strong>Common name<\/strong>: Leyland cypress<br \/><strong>Origin<\/strong>: A hybrid resulting from a cross between <em>Cupressus macrocarpa<\/em> and <em>Chamaecyparis nootkatensis<\/em><br \/><strong>Family<\/strong>: C<em>upressaceae<\/em><br \/><strong>Category<\/strong>: Outdoor plant<br \/><strong>Approx. height<\/strong>: 100 cm-1.20 m<br \/><strong>Di\u00e2metro vaso<\/strong>: 19cm<\/p>\n<p><strong>CUIDADOS<\/strong><br \/><strong>Light<\/strong>: Needs full sun, but tolerates partial shade.<br \/><strong>Watering<\/strong>: Water regularly. It\u2019s not very tolerant of dry spells.<br \/><strong>Temperature<\/strong>: Likes temperate climates and withstands low temperatures (down to -24\u00b0C).<br \/><strong>Pruning<\/strong>: Doesn\u2019t need regular pruning, but you can trim and shape it to keep the size and form you want. During the growing season, it needs trimming two to three times.<br \/><strong>Soil<\/strong>: Adapts to a wide range of soil\/substrate types.<br \/><strong>Not pet friendly<\/strong>: May be toxic to pets.
