The reasons are clear: from its elegant look (glossy green leaves and reddish new shoots) to its climate adaptability (thrives in full sun or partial shade), low maintenance (2 or 3 trims a year are enough), and availability in various sizes. There are plenty of reasons to choose this evergreen shrub, which can reach 4m in height. However, if you plan to plant it in a coastal area, you should reconsider; it doesn’t like salt spray, overly arid soil, or locations prone to prolonged droughts and extreme temperatures. In those cases, Metrosideros or Pittosporum would be better choices.

Scientific name: Eugenia myrtifolia ‘Newport’
Common name: Eugenia
Family: Myrtaceae
Origin: Australia/New Zealand
Climate: Subtropical, Tropical/Temperate
Category: Outdoor plant
Approx. height: 1.50–1.80 m*
Pot diameter: 24cm
*Only available for in-store pickup, as indicated on the checkout form.
