It&#8217;s a timeless plant associated with a retro-chic look, taking us back to 1970s decor. Despite this revival, and although it\u2019s not the exact cultivar used at the time, it\u2019s very similar, but with wider, shinier leaves, boosting the exotic feel it brings to indoor (or outdoor) spaces. Like the \u201cTineke\u201d variety, it\u2019s low-maintenance when it comes to watering\/upkeep, very hardy, long-lasting, and easy to care for\u2014just occasional watering and frequent leaf cleaning to remove built-up dust and keep the plant healthy. In its natural habitat (or if grown in a suitable outdoor location) it can grow up to 60m. However, in a domestic environment, its growth will be more contained and controlled by the size of its pot and appropriate pruning. Ficus elastica are great at removing some toxins from the air, which is why they\u2019re considered air-purifying plants\u2014ideal for indoor spaces.<br \/><strong>The difference between <em>Ficus elastica &#8216;Robusta&#8217;<\/em> and <em>Ficus elastica &#8216;Abidjan&#8217;<\/em><\/strong> (sometimes called Robusta Abidjan) is mainly <strong>aesthetic, related to leaf colour and appearance<\/strong>. Botanically, they\u2019re still varieties\/cultivars of the same species. In short, <strong>the <em>Ficus elastica \u2018Robusta\u2019<\/em> has dark green leaves<\/strong>.
