It’s a small, highly resistant plant well adapted to our climate, being native to arid and semi-arid regions of Mexico and the southwestern United States. It has a delicate and graceful appearance, formed by countless thin, flexible, light green leaves that form tufts and sway in the wind, creating a light and elegant effect, making it highly appreciated in contemporary and minimalist gardens. It blooms in spring, with green spikes that turn golden in summer and develop abundant feathery panicles slightly above the foliage, looking beautiful in beds, borders, pots/planters, mass plantings and naturalized meadows. Besides this, it requires little maintenance, which is another point in its favour.

Scientific name: Stipa tenuissima
Common names: Spanish Grass, Squirrel Tail, Texas Grass, Angel Hair
Family: Poaceae
Origin: Central America
Category: Outdoor plant
Approximate height: 45cm
Diameter: 19 cm

CUIDADOS
Light: Prefers full sun, with at least 6 hours of direct sunlight daily, however it can tolerate partial shade but its growth will be less vigorous.
Temperature: Adapts well to hot/dry climates and tolerates moderate cold, but may suffer in areas with intense frost.
Watering: Minimal as it tolerates drought well.
