Light<\/strong>: Prefers very bright spots, but no direct sun. Tolerates partial shade and adapts well indoors.
Temperature<\/strong>: Grows best between 18\u00b0C and 28\u00b0C. Doesn\u2019t tolerate frost or prolonged temperatures below 10\u00b0C.
Watering<\/strong>: Moderate. Water when the surface layer of the substrate begins to dry out. Avoid waterlogging.

Fun facts<\/strong>: The popular name “Comigo-ningu\u00e9m-pode” is linked to the plant\u2019s toxicity: in the past it was believed that its ability to cause intense irritation in the mouth and throat made it a plant that “no one could go near or touch”\u2014hence the curious, superstitious name. The name “Cana-do-mudo” also arose due to the presence of calcium oxalate crystals in the plant\u2019s tissues, which can cause temporary irritation of the mouth and throat when chewed. Even so, it remains one of the world\u2019s most popular houseplants thanks to its lush foliage and ease of growing. Dieffenbachia was included (directly or indirectly, depending on the variety) in the set of houseplants studied by NASA regarding the removal of some volatile organic compounds (VOCs) indoors, which is why it\u2019s referred to as an “Air Purifier” in commercial and horticultural catalogues.<\/p>\n
