Scaevola aemula<\/em>, commonly known as Scaevola or Fan Flower, is a compact plant with trailing or semi-creeping growth, much loved for its extraordinary flowering ability. For several months, it produces an abundance of small, delicate fan-shaped flowers that cover almost the entire plant from spring until the first cold spells.
Native to Australia, it adapts very well to the Portuguese climate, standing out for its excellent resistance to heat, wind and short periods of drought. Its elegant, slightly trailing growth makes it an excellent choice for pots, window boxes, balcony planters, hanging baskets, flowering walls and beds, where it quickly creates highly decorative patches of colour.
In addition to its long flowering period, it attracts bees, butterflies and other pollinating insects, helping to increase biodiversity in outdoor spaces. It\u2019s a low-maintenance plant, ideal if you like continuous colour for several months without demanding care.<\/p>\n

Light<\/strong>: Prefers full sun or very bright partial shade. It flowers more abundantly when it gets several hours of sun a day.
Temperature<\/strong>: Likes mild to warm temperatures. It tolerates summer heat well, but is sensitive to hard frosts.
Watering<\/strong>: Moderate. Water when the surface layer of the substrate begins to dry out. Avoid prolonged waterlogging. If it\u2019s in a pot, watch out for saucers or decorative pots without drainage holes where watering or rainwater can stagnate, promoting root rot.
