It’s an excellent choice for covering walls, pergolas, fences, trellises or balconies, quickly creating a green, elegant and highly floriferous effect.
Its persistent, glossy, deep green leaves keep the plant ornamental all year round. Between spring and late summer it produces numerous clusters of small white star-shaped flowers that, as they age, take on delicate cream tones. The intense, sweet fragrance makes this species one of the most popular climbers for gardens and outdoor spaces, and it’s also very attractive to bees and other pollinating insects.
The long, flexible stems need a support structure to grow in an organized way. When trained over trellises, arches, walls or pergolas, they quickly create a dense and highly decorative cover.

Scientific name: Trachelospermum jasminoides
Common names: Star Jasmine, False Jasmine
Family: Apocynaceae
Origin: East Asia (China, Japan and Korea)
Climate: Temperate, Mediterranean and Oceanic.
Category: Outdoor plant
Approximate height: 100cm
Pot diameter: 17 cm

CUIDADOS
Light: Full sun or partial shade. Although it tolerates locations with some shade, it develops better and flowers more abundantly when grown in full sun.
Temperature: It’s a very hardy plant well adapted to our climate. It tolerates cold well and withstands light frosts.
Watering: Moderate after planting and regular during spring and summer, especially during periods of greater heat. Once well established, it shows good resistance to short periods of drought.
Soil: Fertile, light and well-drained, preferably neutral or slightly alkaline.
Fertilization: Apply fertilizer for outdoor plants during spring and summer, once a month, or as indicated by the manufacturer.
Pruning/Maintenance: To achieve harmonious development, train the stems over a support structure (trellis, pergola, wall or fence), guiding them in the desired direction. After flowering, you can carry out light pruning to maintain a compact shape and encourage denser branching.
Not Pet Friendly: Can be toxic when ingested by pets or children.

Fun fact: Despite the common name Star Jasmine, this species doesn’t belong to the Jasminum genus. It receives this name due to its star-shaped flowers and intense fragrance, very similar to true jasmines. On warm summer nights, the fragrance can perfume the entire garden, so it’s advisable to avoid planting it near bedroom windows of people sensitive to intense aromas.

WARNING!
