Lisbon pulsed with technology once again between November 10 and 13 for the tenth edition of Web Summit. As usual, Horto do Campo Grande brought nature to the event’s spaces, which were spread across the MEO Arena and FIL, bringing together executives from global companies such as Microsoft, Meta, Tencent, Qualcomm, IBM, Uber, TikTok, and Cloudflare, in a gathering that exceeded 71,000 participants from 157 countries.

This year’s edition confirmed the growing importance of Web Summit on the global technology scene. The future of technology was the central theme, with artificial intelligence dominating practically every stage. From generative agents to new sector-specific models, from the relationship between data, security, and democracy to the impact of AI on education, health, mobility, and the creative economy, the feeling was that technology has ceased to be an isolated field and has become the fabric that runs through all dimensions of contemporary life.
The team led by Vera Quintas (Agronomist and Interior Designer from HCG’s Green Space Design and Construction Department) was once again challenged to transform the interior spaces of Web Summit. The approach followed a clear line: creating welcoming, fresh, and sensory environments capable of balancing the intense pace of the event with an atmosphere of pause and visual comfort. Carefully selected species were distributed throughout the different hubs of the conference, acting as breathing points between stages, meetings, interviews, and networking areas.

But one of the elements that caught everyone’s eye was a signature piece: the massive Horto Collection table. Measuring about 10 meters long, built from red Lebanon cedar in its natural color and set on matte black metal legs, the table proved to be a true functional installation. The piece demonstrates the essence of the Horto Collection line, with fully custom-made solutions where design, raw materials, and functionality come together to meet the specific needs of each project.
