If you didn’t do it the previous month, sow asters, coleus, carnations, chrysanthemums, statice, gypsophila, and zinnias. This is also a good month to sow sunflowers.

In the vegetable patch: Sow and plant pumpkins, watercress, lettuce, beetroot, broccoli, carrot, cabbage, spinach, beans, watermelon, melon, turnip, cucumber, pepper, padrón pepper, radishes, and cabbage. Plant tomatoes and treat those already planted with Bordeaux mixture.

Spring Calendar 2017

In the garden: This season is ideal for planting perennials, beds based on asters, rudbeckias, helianthus, and bulbs such as gladioli, begonias, and agapanthus. It’s also a good time to sow gypsophila, wallflowers, forget-me-nots, primulas, and cyclamens.

In the vegetable patch: There’s plenty to do in the vegetable patch during this month! Sow in a nursery bed: lettuce, leek, cabbage, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, turnip greens, kohlrabi, and kale. In their final location you can sow carrot, turnip, radish, and parsley. It’s time to harvest the potatoes you planted in February and the onion, garlic, and celery from the January sowing. Take care of the strawberries and continue sowing beans for fresh consumption. It’s time to grow potatoes, tomatoes, and peppers.
