Galp’s new headquarters, located in Alcântara, next to LX Factory, in the ALLO – Alcântara Lisbon Offices office complex, reveals an architecture characterised by a dynamic inspired by the brand’s innovative character. Spaces designed to foster creativity and collaboration between teams, reflecting the company’s commitment to people and to the future.
The space, designed by Openbook in partnership with Tétris, shows Galp’s avant-garde vision, commitment to innovation, sustainability and concern for the well-being of employees. This is not unrelated to the importance given to plants in the decoration, both indoors and outdoors and on the rooftop, planted and maintained by dedicated teams from the Horto do Campo Grande.
The entire interior has been designed with organic shapes that the building’s transparency allows to be projected outwards.
Integrated into the decoration of the different interior spaces, the presence of plants is a constant, and even in spaces where there are no plants, their presence is felt through the huge glazed windows that allow them to be seen from the outside.
The selection of indoor plants fell on species with striking foliage, different sizes and shades of green, and adapted to the light conditions of the different environments, bringing naturalness to the spaces: Ficus elastica, Kentia forsteriana, Monstera deliciosa, Phlebodium aureum, Spathiphyllum and Strelitzia nicolai, planted in custom-made Horto Collection metal planters, or to embed in the various pieces of woodwork used to decorate the spaces, such as benches or room dividers, or as decorative pieces themselves, with their cylindrical shape, different dimensions and customised colours, they blend in with the colours, materials and coatings of the different decorative elements, all carefully studied to create an attractive and stimulating workspace.

Outside, both in the flowerbeds around the balconies and on the rooftop, we opted for native species adapted to the Mediterranean climate, which don’t require much water and which, when combined, create harmonious ensembles with different textures and varying shades of green: Lantana, Loropetalum, Myrtus communis, Pittosporum variegata, Rosmarinus, Stipa and Westringia fruticosa decorate the perimeter of the rooftop. In the rest of this large space, there are two flowerbeds with Olive trees and Lavandula, as well as two areas of flowerbeds decorated with larger species such as Abelia, Curio ficoides, Crassula, Lavandula, Phormium variegata, Pittosporum nana, Santolina and also Trachelospermum jasminoides vines, which in the future will expand over the pergola roofs, creating a feeling of greater freshness in the rooms.

Most of the planting was done in custom-made Horto Collection planters made from galvanised sheet metal in a personalised colour with an anti-corrosion finish. All the plants, in a portfolio of dozens of different species and hundreds of installed plants, are maintained by Horto do Campo Grande, by a team that looks after their growth and keeps them healthy and lush – cleaning, pruning, weeding, digging, mowing and phytosanitary treatments are carried out by specialised gardeners. The outdoor planters are equipped with a drip irrigation system, which, with the support of an irrigation controller, makes it possible to adjust the watering to the weather conditions, avoiding wasting water and keeping the plants healthy.
For Horto do Campo Grande it is always an enormous challenge and pleasure to promote and participate in the integration of landscape architecture and biophilic design in architectural projects for new buildings, particularly in this impressive project in Lisbon, which has already been honoured with several renowned awards:
- National Real Estate Award, Honourable Mention in the “Offices” category;
- Expresso/SIC Notícias Real Estate Award, in the “Best Development” category;
- CONSTRUIR 2023 Awards, in the “Sustainability” category;
- Honourable Mention by the prestigious Architecture MasterPrize, among others.
We are also very proud to continue to fulfil one of our missions: to contribute every day to a greener, more sustainable city for everyone.
