Experience a sustainable Christmas full of life
At Horto do Campo Grande you’ll find a wide variety of sizes of Abies Nordmanniana Nordic fir trees (cut or rooted). The smell, soft touch and lustre of natural pines are irresistible!
Nordic firs, Abies Fraseri, Abies Nordman and Picea Abies are the most popular natural pines at Christmas time. Their conical shape and soft yet robust needles make them the perfect Christmas trees to complement the Christmas atmosphere in your home. In addition to the scent of pine that will spread throughout the house, their branches are perfect for hanging Christmas lights and decorations.
From an environmental point of view, a natural Christmas tree is the best solution. Not only does its production help to reduce carbon dioxide levels, but it is also biodegradable. Horto do Campo Grande offers a free service for those who bought their Christmas pine in one of our shops, committing to transforming the natural firs into biomass after the Christmas season. All you have to do is return them to the shop where you bought them, or if you bought them online, you can return them to our Campo Grande Garden Centre.
How to look after it
The Abies Fraseri and Abies Nordman with roots are delivered potted. If you want to plant them in the garden after the Christmas season, you need to consider several factors.
Location: The first factor to bear in mind is that, as an outdoor plant, it should be kept indoors for as short a time as possible. Indoors, it should be placed in a cool place away from heat sources such as fireplaces or heating.
Watering: Spruces should be watered regularly (don’t forget to put a plate under the pot) to keep the soil moist, but not too wet, which can cause root rot.
Light: When planting the tree in the garden, favour a sunny but not too hot spot.
Substrate: It can be planted in all types of soil except limestone.
