Social Responsibility

At Horto do Campo Grande we have developed an aid policy that favours social action projects linked to areas of poverty or serious social problems. We also extend our support to other cultural and sporting institutions.

AMI – International Medical Assistance

Founded in 1984 by doctor-surgeon Fernando Nobre, AMI was created to intervene in humanitarian crisis situations worldwide. Although “missions” are its best-known aspect, in 1995 the organisation started a social support project for homeless people and needy families in Portugal: “Porta Amiga” (Friendly Door), which has received our support.

Amigas do Peito Association

With the motto “Helping today so that tomorrow is possible”, the Association’s mission is to provide a space for sharing experiences, information and personalised support for women and men with breast cancer.

The Association’s aim is to defend and support breast cancer patients at all stages of the disease, namely pre- and post-surgery, inpatient and outpatient, to promote a better quality of life and also to provide support for family and friends.

A Terra dos Sonhos

A Portuguese non-profit organisation whose aim is to continuously promote the well-being of children, young people and adults through three different programmes: Transformative Dreams, Dream Workshop and WeGuide. “We are carers who believe there are no impossibilities and we facilitate all dimensions of well-being and health – mental, physical, emotional, relational and spiritual.”

Through its programmes, the charity accompanies, cares for and empowers individuals, families, carers and health professionals. It helps those who are most vulnerable, be it a child with a serious illness, a young person in foster care far from their family of origin, or an adult with a chronic illness, always in favour of improving the well-being of those it supports.

Banco do Bebé

Banco do Bebé – Associação de Ajuda ao Recém-Nascido – is a Private Social Solidarity Institution (IPSS) created on 26 May 1996 and which systematically supports children from the families of users of the Dr. Alfredo da Costa Maternity Hospital who face economic, social, and developmental problems in their daily lives.

CECD – Education Centre for the Disabled Citizen in Mira Sintra

Horto do Campo Grande has joined forces with the CECD in Mira Sintra and the “Plantas Solidárias” project. Our support consists of creating jobs so that the Centre’s users can be integrated into the professional market, thus stimulating the equal opportunities that guide our actions.

As a result of this partnership, you can find Solidarity Plants in the Garden Centres belonging to the Campo Grande Garden Centre. By buying these plants, you are supporting people suffering from intellectual disabilities, multi-disabilities, and other limitations, promoting their rights and helping to improve their quality of life.

Campo Grande Social and Parish Centre

Since 1996 we have supported the work of the Campo Grande Social and Parish Centre, which networks with the community to find appropriate social responses to each situation, keeping an eye on the signs of the times and the consequences of changes in the social structure and trying to update its action in the service of those who need it most, with a preferential option for the weakest and poorest.

CERCICA – Cascais Cooperative for the Education and Rehabilitation of Disabled Citizens

Our professional team at the Quinta da Eira Garden Centre includes young people and adults from the Cascais Cooperative for the Education and Rehabilitation of Disabled Citizens, thus corroborating the culture of inclusion that we defend within the company.

Vida e Paz Community

This is a Private Institution of Social Solidarity, with legal and civil personality, a non-profit organisation supervised by the Patriarchate of Lisbon. This reference organisation focuses its activity on creating and stimulating responses to the needs and potential of people who are homeless or socially vulnerable, helping them to recover their dignity and (re)build their life project through integrated prevention, rehabilitation and reintegration.

EPIS

This association was set up in 2006 by a group of more than 100 entrepreneurs and managers in Portugal in response to the call launched to civil society by the then President of the Republic, Professor Aníbal Cavaco Silva, for a commitment to social inclusion that would involve political forces, institutions, local authorities and civil society organisations. Since its foundation, EPIS has had Engineer Diogo Simões Pereira as its director-general. The Association works in close partnership with the Ministry of Education, Regional Governments and Local Authorities across the country and has had the High Patronage of His Excellency the President of the Republic, Professor Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, since 2016.

Gil Foundation

The Gil Foundation has existed since 1999 and its mission is to promote the clinical, social and emotional well-being of sick children and young people by creating support structures that enable them to improve their quality of life, speed up their return to their families in some cases and dream of the possibility of fully recovering their life projects.

Ever since its creation, the institution has focused on areas of social emptiness where both the state and other institutions have yet to provide answers, thus becoming a pioneer in the development of paediatric health and social reintegration projects, such as Casa do Gil and Home Support.

Because children don’t belong in hospital, the Gil Foundation has had the support of Horto do Campo Grande since it was founded.

Make-A-Wish

Make-A-Wish’s mission is to make wishes come true for children and young people aged 3 to 17 throughout Portugal with serious, progressive, degenerative or malignant diseases, giving them a moment of strength, joy and hope. Make-A-Wish works to make it possible to bring as much joy as possible to the fulfilment of its mission, thus always trying to meet the children’s way of thinking and feeling, granting a wish to each eligible child. Believing in the transformative power of making a wish come true, Make-A-Wish® combines its work with the creativity of each child/young person, enriching all parties involved with positive emotions and memories.

Portuguese League Against Cancer

The Portuguese League Against Cancer is a national reference in supporting cancer patients and their families, promoting health, preventing cancer and encouraging training and research in oncology.

As such, this organisation has always deserved our support, both financially and logistically, in the activities it promotes.

Cultural Institutions

São Carlos National Theatre

The National Theatre of São Carlos, inaugurated on 30 June 1793, remains the only national theatre dedicated to the production and presentation of opera and choral and symphonic music.
Horto do Campo Grande is on the side of Portuguese culture and therefore sponsors this cultural institution.

Dr Anastácio Gonçalves House-Museum

Created for the “recreation and instruction” of those who visit, the Dr Anastácio Gonçalves House-Museum brings together the works of art that have been collected by ophthalmologist Anastácio Gonçalves since 1932, when he bought the house. In a building dating back to the beginning of the last century, various types of works are on permanent or temporary display, both from Portugal and abroad, from paintings to furniture and porcelain. Reopened in 1997 after renovations designed to better welcome visitors, the House-Museum is now entirely a space for sharing and culture. As well as conserving and exhibiting its collection, its mission is to disseminate art, organising various activities and cultural experiences with the participation of the public, such as guided tours, courses and concerts. Permanent exhibitions and numerous temporary exhibitions are open to the public from Tuesday (from 2pm) to Sunday (from 10am) until 6pm.

Sports Institutions

Unable to remain indifferent to the great difficulties faced by some sports institutions, Horto do Campo Grande supports the youngest and least visible age groups in various sports.

Setúbal Skating Association

The Setúbal Skating Association, considered a “Public Utility Institution” in Diário da República no. 45 II Series of 23/02/2000, was founded on the 1st of June 1987, by the will of the clubs in the District that were affiliated to the Lisbon and Alentejo Associations.
Since 2014, Horto do Campo Grande has been supporting the Benjamim Hockey Team (7/8 years old)

Education and Leisure Society “Os Unidos de Leceia” – Barcarena

The origins of the Sociedade de Educação e Recreio “Os Unidos de Leceia” (SERUL) date back to the early 1940s and from the mid-1970s SERUL began to incorporate a sporting component into its activities.
Thanks to the commitment of all of them, SERUL is today a recognised entity on the Futsal scene where, in the 2012/2013 season, it won the Lisbon Football Association Cup and Super Cup, unique trophies for collectives and clubs in the municipality of Oeiras and competed in the National 3rd Division Championship in the 2013/2014 season. Horto do Campo Grande supports this Futsal team.
