Since its inception in 1970, Earth Day has been celebrated on April 22. This is a time when environmental issues gain even more relevance, and it becomes essential to raise awareness about the need to care for the planet.
In 1970, promoted by Gaylord Nelson, a US Senator, the first Earth Day event took place, with 20 million people taking to the streets to protest against pollution. The success of this day, driven by social pressure, led the US government to create the Environmental Protection Agency and laws aimed at protecting human health and the environment.
52 years later, the planet deserves more attention than ever, as global warming increasingly impacts the lives of Earth’s inhabitants. It is important to adopt more sustainable habits to safeguard the planet we live on.
Earth Day is celebrated annually on April 22 in more than 190 countries, with the participation of millions of people. The goal of this date is to raise awareness about various environmental problems, such as air and water pollution, climate change, species extinction, and soil degradation, among others. The importance of this day lies in educating and raising awareness about the need to use Earth’s natural resources moderately.

Sustainable Initiatives
Our client, SIVA|PHS, marked the day by promoting initiatives for its employees, committing to protect and preserve natural resources and the planet’s sustainability. The goal was to reinforce the need for CO2 reduction, following the environmental positioning of the Group it belongs to – Volkswagen AG and Porsche Holding Salzburg (PHS).

In addition to awareness lectures given by environmental experts, 44 trees – cedars and almond trees – were planted by SIVA|PHS employees on land previously prepared by Horto do Campo Grande staff, who supported this initiative.
The awareness action aims to contribute to #Project1hour, an international Volkswagen Group project in which more than 660,000 people participated last year, gathering to reflect on and discuss environmental issues.
