Lar Sagrada Família, founded in 1995 and located in the parish of Buraca, has been playing an essential role in welcoming and supporting the elderly in the municipality of Amadora. In an environment that promotes respect, comfort and appreciation of each user’s life experience, the institution offers a wide range of cultural, recreational and intergenerational activities that contribute to the well-being of its residents.
On the 27th of March and the 3rd of April, Horto do Campo Grande had the pleasure of welcoming the residents of Lar Sagrada Família, from Santa Casa da Misericórdia da Amadora. As part of an initiative organised by João Tavares and led by our colleague Vera Serradas Duarte, these visits to the Campo Grande Garden provided the participants with an enriching experience.
Visitors were invited to explore our space in a sensory and relaxed way. They walked along the paths surrounded by greenery and aromas, observed textures, raised questions, shared stories and, above all, allowed themselves to be enchanted by the plants that surrounded them – many of them already well known and loved by those who have cultivated a lifelong passion for the land.

To mark the occasion, and also as a way of extending the experience beyond the visit, we offered each group tomato, carrot and Brussels sprout seeds – a symbolic gesture aimed at encouraging the creation of a small vegetable garden at the Lar.
We believe that contact with nature is a way of reliving memories and providing well-being. Receiving visitors is a privilege for us – not only because of the joy they bring, but also because of the purpose of making Horto do Campo Grande an even more inclusive, humane and open place for everyone.
