WIP: RENEWED LANDSCAPE AND GREATER SUSTAINABILITY AT FREEPORT LISBOA FASHION OUTLET

Freeport Lisboa Fashion Outlet, in Alcochete, begins a new phase of renovation, continuing the process started almost a decade ago. The project, coordinated by Freeport Leisure (Via Outlets) and designed by L35 – Architecture, Urban planning, Design, has Planirest Construção as general contractor and Horto do Campo Grande responsible for landscape execution.
The intervention focuses on Rua do Canal Central and Praça da Entrada Principal, aiming to create a more contemporary, integrated, and fluid image. The renovation includes redesigned facades, more comfortable circulation, and the introduction of new green areas and rest zones, reinforcing the welcoming character of the space.

Sustainability is central to the project, with low-consumption LED lighting, rainwater reuse, and planting of native and Mediterranean species with low water consumption – such as Quercus ilex, Celtis australis, Myrtus communis, Rosmarinus officinalis, and Stipa tenuissima – irrigated by drip irrigation system. Also noteworthy is a 90m² green roof, executed with Landlab drainage systems and specific substrate, transforming an inert pavement into a green and biodiverse area that reduces rainwater runoff and extends the lifespan of the roof waterproofing. The project also includes the enhancement of electric mobility, with 34 charging points.
“For us at Horto do Campo Grande, it is a real pleasure to be part of this type of project, which combines landscape quality, sustainability, and technical rigor. It is also a pleasure to work with Planirest Construções, a highly trusted partner, with whom we maintain excellent coordination, collaboration, and the highest quality standards.” – Vera Clara, Landscape Architect responsible for HCG site management.

With the opening scheduled for the first quarter of 2026, the renewed Freeport Lisboa Fashion Outlet reaffirms itself as a benchmark in retail excellence in Portugal, offering a comfortable, engaging, and contemporary visitor experience.
