Light: Partial shade, full sun (but it may suffer/look worse under intense sun during the hottest hours in summer)
Temperature: Ideally 20–25º C. Sensitive to frost and colder temperatures.
Watering: Only when drought is prolonged, or if you keep it in full sun and in a pot.
Soil: Likes well-drained substrates, rich in organic matter, and watered moderately but at regular intervals.
Leaf harvest: After 12–18 months, in summer. Leaves can be harvested 3 times a year, removing 2–3 leaves per plant.
Propagation: By shoots that grow from the base of the plant and its stem, or by leaf or stem cuttings.
Fun fact: The transparent sap inside the leaves, which resembles a gel and is used for medicinal, therapeutic and cosmetic purposes, is drunk in Asia as a medicine for coughs, ulcers and gastritis. The plant can reach 2 meters in height.
