The famous “David Austin” English roses – created by the man himself – combine the beauty and fragrance of old roses with the resilience and continuous flowering of modern roses, resulting in exuberant rosette-shaped flowers with many petals, varied colors and intense fragrances (such as myrrh, fruits, tea, among others). These rose bushes are highly appreciated for their timeless beauty, fragrance and ability to bloom abundantly, bringing a touch of romance and sophistication to green spaces, from spring/summer through to autumn.

The Imogen rose produces very beautiful pale yellow, lightly scented flowers that fade almost to a cream tone. The numerous delicately ruffled petals are arranged around a central eye. This rose forms a robust, upright shrub with bright green foliage. It was named after the character from Shakespeare’s play “Cymbeline”, in which ‘Imogen’ – King Cymbeline’s daughter and Posthumus’s virtuous wife – virtuous and courageous, with her central role steeped in loyalty and true love. Imogen represents purity, fidelity and inner strength, being one of Shakespeare’s most admired heroines. This rose bush could only have this name.

Light: Full sun (without about 4 hours of direct sun/day, it won’t flower well).
Temperature: Rose bushes are well adapted to our temperate climate. They enjoy temperatures between 15ºC to 28ºC but tolerate lower temperatures well (down to -20°C).
Watering: Moderate – after planting, in the first summer and during flowering periods. Reduce watering in winter – when outdoors, let the rain take care of watering (only water if a prolonged dry period occurs).
Fertilization: Use fertilizer suitable for roses in spring-summer, following the instructions on the product label.
Pruning: Like most rose bushes, this variety also tolerates pruning well. Remove dry/damaged branches and wilted flowers, promoting flowering and maintaining the desired shape. Pruning should be done in late winter or early spring.
Soil: They adapt well to various types of soils/substrates, as long as they are light and rich in organic matter (they love humus). The soil should be well-drained as they don’t tolerate waterlogging.
Pet Friendly: Most rose bushes themselves are not considered toxic plants for pets. However, if ingested, the thorns can cause serious injuries.
Tip: Rose bushes don’t like excessive wind exposure, but the chosen spot should be airy to prevent the appearance of fungi on leaves and flowers.
