With an ambiguous scent (unpleasant to some, intriguing to others), this shrubby plant with finely divided blue-green leaves is not only popular for its aromatic and medicinal properties, but also delights the superstitious, as it’s said to protect against or ward off the evil eye and envy, often found at doorways. It’s a perennial herbaceous plant that can reach about one meter in height. It’s quite hardy and ornamental, used in gardens and also in vegetable patches as an excellent pest repellent (e.g.: flies, fleas, ants) and for attracting butterflies. Companion plants well with Rose and Raspberry.

Light: Full sun but also tolerates partial shade (direct sun only part of the day but growth may be slower)
Watering: It’s a plant that tolerates drought well but increase watering frequency in summer if in a small pot (different from being planted in a large planter or in the ground, where roots can access water reserves during dry periods). Don’t waterlog and be careful not to leave standing water in a saucer under the pot or at the bottom of a decorative pot – if it doesn’t have drainage holes.
Soil: Adapts well to different soil types, as long as they’re not acidic. From calcareous arid soils to dry and barren ones, rubble and walls, Rue adapts well to everything.
Not Pet Friendly: There are records of toxicity for pets such as dogs and cats (and for people too – inform yourself before ingesting it).
Fun fact: Cats don’t like its smell. Try rubbing Rue on furniture they insist on scratching and they might stop.

Yes, you can choose to pick up your products at one of our 3 Garden Centers (Campo Grande, Quinta da Eira-Sintra, and Fernão Ferro).
After the order is shipped, the system sends an email to the address provided by the customer with the tracking number from CTT, our distribution partner, so you can track the order.
To ensure you receive the products in the best condition, only one delivery attempt is planned. We suggest you choose a day and time when someone will be home to receive the order, provide a contact phone number, and include any useful instructions in the notes.

For legal reasons, when plants leave our Garden Centers, their phytosanitary passport loses its validity, so they cannot be placed back into the commercial circuit. Therefore, we cannot exchange or accept returns for plants or flowers.

After receiving the product, you have 14 days to communicate your intent to return it (Article 10 of Decree-Law No. 24/2014); after communication, you have another 14 days to send the product.
