The Calathea ‘White Fusion’ is one of the most distinctive and ornamental varieties. It features an extraordinary green and white pattern, with variegated leaves that look hand-painted. The underside of the leaves displays a soft pale-purple tone, which enhances the contrast and its decorative character. Like all Calatheas, but perhaps a little more so, this is a wonderfully showy plant, extremely exotic and perfect for adding to your home’s interior decor.
Known as “Prayer Plants” because they open their leaves during the day to catch the light and close them at night, lifting them upwards—like a prayer—Calatheas are also pet-friendly plants and help purify indoor air. But there’s no such thing as “beauty without a but”… They’re not the easiest plants to care for if you’re just getting started in the world of plants. They appreciate humid environments and don’t tolerate waterlogging. Additionally, they thrive best when watered with mineral/bottled water or rainwater.
Scientific name: Calathea ‘white fusion’

CUIDADOS
Light: Prefers abundant indirect light, although it tolerates partial light. In well-lit environments (without direct sun exposure), the plant will have more vibrant foliage and healthier growth. Excessive light can discolor/damage the leaves. Placing it near east, west or north-facing windows will be ideal.
Temperature: Thrives best between 18 °C and 24 °C. The temperature should never drop below 15 °C. Light ventilation throughout the day is beneficial, as long as there are no cold drafts.
Watering: Keep the soil slightly moist, allowing the top 2 cm of substrate to dry between waterings. Overwatering can cause root rot. Frequent watering in small amounts is ideal. Use water with low mineral content or without chlorides and aluminum, such as rainwater, demineralized or bottled water.
Humidity: Appreciates environments with high relative humidity (65% to 85%). If necessary, use a humidifier or place it in more humid areas of the house (e.g. bathroom, as long as other conditions are equally met). Leaves with brown edges often indicate lack of humidity in the environment.
Fertilization: Apply nitrogen-based (N) fertilizer through fertigation once a month during spring.
Pruning: Remove wilted leaves and flowers to maintain the plant’s aesthetics.
Soil: Use a well-drained substrate, rich in organic matter. A mixture of potting soil with perlite and peat moss is recommended.
Pet Friendly: Calatheas are not toxic to pets.
Tip: Cleaning dust from the leaves with a damp cloth regularly promotes the plant’s health and natural shine.
