The Ficus benjamina is a timeless plant. A classic. It never goes out of style, it’s elegant and highly ornamental. It’s perfect for filling an empty corner in any room, whatever your décor style—great for minimalism, but also for modern and sophisticated interiors, and it fits like a glove in more romantic or classic looks, as well as rustic décor. On top of that, it’s low-maintenance and belongs to the group of plants that help purify indoor air, making it an excellent choice for offices, commercial spaces, or clinics. Compared to the “common” Ficus benjamina, this Ficus benjamina ‘Danielle’ has the iconic elliptical leaves with slight ripples on the edges, in a slightly darker green tone, and they’re also glossier. In our mild climate, Ficus can be planted (or kept in pots/planters) outdoors, as long as they’re in a sheltered spot away from direct sun during the hottest hours. Also keep in mind that as it grows, this plant becomes a tree with a substantial size (it can exceed 10 m), so—if planted in the ground—make sure it’s kept away from underground pipes to prevent the roots from damaging them. It can also be used as a shade tree, or kept in shrub form, and it’s an excellent option for hedges (if placed in spots sheltered from direct sun for long hours, especially in the afternoon).

Light: Prefers bright, indirect light. Direct sun exposure can scorch the leaves.
Temperature: Ideal between 16°C and 24°C. Avoid exposure to temperatures below 12°C and prolonged exposure to extreme heat.
Watering: Keep the soil slightly damp and water when the top layer is dry. Avoid waterlogging to prevent root rot (watch out for standing water in saucers or decorative pots without drainage holes).
Humidity: It likes environments with moderate humidity. Mist the leaves occasionally, especially in drier indoor environments.
Fertilising: During spring and summer, apply a liquid fertiliser suitable for green plants once a month to promote healthy growth.
Pruning: Accepts pruning well, allowing you to mould the plant as desired and encourage denser foliage.
