The Ficus lyrata is a fig variety known for its large, glossy leaves that resemble a fiddle. With its distinctive and exuberant shape, this plant is a true work of nature’s art.
In the wild, under the right conditions, it can reach over 10m in height. However, in a pot, it reaches a maximum of 3 to 4 meters. It doesn’t like very dry environments, which can cause brown spots on the foliage and/or leaf drop. Keep it away from dehumidifiers or heating/cooling systems. A simple way to balance humidity and spot pests early is to wipe the leaves with a soft, damp cloth. This Ficus’s exotic and elegant look makes it a very trendy choice for interior decor.

Light: Prefers plenty of indirect light, but direct sunlight should be avoided. It doesn’t tolerate dark spaces.
Temperature: Does not tolerate low temperatures. 10ÂşC is the minimum.
Watering: Occasional, allowing the soil to dry out slightly between waterings. Be careful not to waterlog the roots (avoid standing water in the saucer or in decorative pots without drainage holes).
Fertilization: Feed with products rich in nitrogen and potassium between spring and late summer, following the label instructions.
Pruning: Occasional, to control growth and keep the plant healthy (e.g., removing dry/weak leaves).
Not pet-friendly: Note that Ficus lyrata can be toxic to pets like dogs and cats if ingested. Therefore, it is recommended to keep the plant out of their reach and watch out for any signs of ingestion of the leaves.
