Snake Plant Sansevieria trifasciata 'Laurentii' (12cm pot)
The Snake Plant is one of the most popular plants used in interior decoration. Its green leaves with yellow edges are sword-shaped (hence the common name by which it’s known). In our climate it does better indoors, and is a low-maintenance plant, being almost impossible not to survive inside your home, as it tolerates adverse conditions such as long periods of drought, temperature variations or shadier environments. It’s also the ideal plant for indoor environments because it belongs to the group of “air purifiers”, meaning it helps remove toxins from the air (such as formaldehyde and benzene) and improve relative humidity. As with other Sansevierias, its growth is slow and a sign of dryness/lack of water is the appearance of “wrinkles” (typical dehydration ridges) on the leaves, which also look more withered, just as human skin would. In this case, simply increase the amount or frequency of watering, always allowing the water to drain after watering and ensuring the soil dries well between each watering.

Light: Prefers bright indirect light, but tolerates low-light conditions. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, which can cause leaf burn.
Temperature: Ideal between 15°C and 25°C (avoid temperatures below 10°C)
Watering: Water when the substrate is completely dry. Don’t leave standing water in saucers or decorative pots without drainage holes.
Humidity: Adapts well to low-humidity environments. Doesn’t require regular misting but cleaning the leaves with a damp cloth is recommended to keep the plant beautiful and healthy.
Fertilization: Apply during spring and summer.
Pruning: Remove damaged or dry leaves at the base with clean scissors. Avoid cutting leaf tips, as they don’t regenerate.
Soil: Light and well-draining substrate, preferably sandy (for cacti and succulents will be ideal). Avoid soils that retain too much moisture.
