Owned by the Elegant Group, which includes Martinhal Family Hotels & Resorts, Martinhal Residences, designed by internationally renowned architect Eduardo Capinha Lopes, is a premium contemporary development offering comfortable and elegant apartments in a modern area of Lisbon, Parque das Nações. The landscaping project, created by Atelier Ceregeiro, was fully executed by Horto do Campo Grande.
The proposed plant selection is representative of the geographical/bioclimatic context—native plants combined with ornamental species—and took into account their compatibility, growth, and dominance among neighboring species, aiming for less demanding maintenance. All planted areas were equipped with a drip irrigation network for sustainable water management, as well as drainage systems.
The execution of this project was made all the more difficult by the individuality of each flowerbed + flowerbed set, which was overcome by the experience acquired over the years by HCG’s made-to-measure products department.
The building is characterized by its modular geometry, where the sets composed of planters and flower beds on the balconies stand out. Each set has at least one planter where a small olive tree with an already formed trunk was installed.
The boxes that make up the various planters were all built in the Horto do Campo Grande workshops, in galvanized sheet metal painted with anti-corrosion paint and matte finish, a lightweight and resistant material. Their interior was properly insulated with fiberglass and resin, and installed on-site using hoists. All were equipped with a drainage system to ensure the healthy development of the plants.
Maintenance will follow, carried out using a scaffold, as most of the planters are in contact with balcony openings on the building’s various facades.
