Mandevilla is one of the most generous and long-flowering climbers, captivating with the contrast between its lush, glossy dark green foliage and its elegant trumpet-shaped flowers. Available in vibrant shades of red, pink, white, and occasionally yellow, it offers a true spectacle of colour from spring until mid-autumn in our mild climate. Relatively fast-growing—when grown in favourable conditions—it’s an excellent option for hanging, covering pergolas, trellises, railings or fences, creating greener (in winter), cosier and flower-filled (in spring–summer) spaces. As a climbing plant, it benefits from a support or stake to help guide its development. Highly versatile, it can be grown directly in the garden, in pots, or in planters, adapting perfectly to balconies, terraces, and patios with good sun exposure. Its evergreen foliage maintains ornamental interest throughout most of the year, even outside the flowering season. Resilient, elegant, and easy to maintain, Mandevilla is an excellent choice for those seeking colour, exuberance, and a tropical touch in outdoor spaces.

CUIDADOS
Light: Full/direct sun or partial shade. In areas where the summer sun is very intense, it may benefit from partial shade, ensuring it only receives morning sun. However, overly shady environments can hinder flowering.
Temperature: Doesn’t tolerate intense cold (may not withstand temperatures below 10°C), winter winds, or frost. Therefore, the plant should be protected in regions with harsher winters.
Watering: More frequent in summer, keeping the soil slightly moist, but never waterlogged. When in a pot or planter, watch out for saucers or decorative pots without drainage holes where water can stagnate and cause root rot. In winter, drastically reduce watering frequency, ensuring the substrate dries out well between waterings (check by inserting a finger into the soil).
Fertilising: In spring–summer, feed with a fertiliser suitable for outdoor flowering plants.
Pruning: Dipladenia should be pruned between late summer and early spring to remove dry or dead branches and guide the plant’s growth.
Soil: Fertile, well-drained and rich in organic matter. A universal or outdoor plant substrate is suitable.
Not pet-friendly: Toxic to pets if ingested, as it produces a milky sap (latex) that can cause irritation if swallowed or if it comes into contact with mucous membranes.
