It’s a highly ornamental perennial, often called a Daisy, though it’s not the classic Daisy as it doesn’t have white petals and a yellow centre. This is a lower-growing species with more vibrant and varied colours (shades of pink, yellow, and white), always featuring a dark, metallic blue/purple centre. It’s a great choice for creating flowerbeds, mass plantings, or borders full of colourful blooms from spring until late autumn. These small flowering shrubs survive the winter in mild climates like ours, often blooming almost year-round. It’s a plant very well adapted to our climate. It thrives outdoors and is low-maintenance, though it needs some protection from frost. Watering should be more frequent during the hotter months, never letting the substrate dry out completely. It’s important to remove spent flowers to stimulate new growth and maintain its characteristic lush, blooming appearance. The flowers open in the sun and close at night or on cloudy days!

CUIDADOS
Light: Full sun. It tolerates partial shade, but without at least 4 hours of direct sun daily, it may produce fewer flowers and become “leggy”.
Temperature: Well adapted to our climate, it handles heat better than extreme cold—it doesn’t tolerate frost and can withstand temperatures down to 2°C.
Watering: Water only when the soil dries out completely and adjust the frequency according to the seasons, increasing in summer—especially if potted. It doesn’t tolerate waterlogging. Watch out for saucers with standing water or decorative pots without drainage holes!
Soil: These are very hardy plants that adapt well to most soils, provided they are well-drained and rich in organic matter.
Fertilisation: It’s advisable to fertilise during the growing season (Mar-Sep) with a fertiliser suitable for outdoor flowering plants. Granular, slow-release fertiliser (usually lasting 3 months) is highly recommended for garden use (beds, borders, mass plantings).
Pruning: Light pruning to extend the flowering season—remove damaged stems and spent flowers. Light to moderate pruning in autumn to maintain shape and promote blooming for the following season.
Pet Friendly: Generally considered safe for pets.
Fun Fact: The flowers open in the sun and close at night or on cloudy days! This phenomenon is called Nyctinasty and consists of opening/closing movements in response to light and the daily cycle.
