Light: Prefers very bright spots with several hours of intense indirect light or a few hours of gentle sun. Indoors, it should be placed near a well-lit window.
Watering: Moderate. The substrate should be kept slightly moist, but never waterlogged. Water when the surface layer of the substrate begins to dry out. Be careful with saucers and decorative pots without drainage holes, where watering water can stagnate and promote root rot – always remove drained water!
Temperature: Thrives best between 18°C and 30°C. It is sensitive to cold and does not tolerate frost or very low temperatures for prolonged periods.
Fertilization: Apply a balanced fertilizer for green or flowering plants during spring and summer, following the manufacturer’s recommendations.
Pruning: Remove dry or damaged leaves to keep the plant healthy and stimulate more compact growth.
Soil: Prefers light, fertile, and well-drained substrates, rich in organic matter.
Pet Friendly: Generally considered a safe plant for dogs and cats. However, it is recommended to avoid the ingestion of large quantities of any ornamental plant.
Curiosities: Do not confuse it with the Acacia dealbata plant (popularly called “Mimosa”), which is an invasive species in Portugal! Mimosa pudica is not on the list of invasive species in mainland Portugal; it is relatively sensitive to cold and usually behaves as an annual or short-lived perennial. Mimosa pudica has a natural defense mechanism called thigmonasty, which allows it to quickly close its leaves when touched. This response helps protect the plant from potential herbivores by making it look less appetizing. After a few minutes, the leaves slowly return to their normal position. In addition to reacting to touch, the leaves also close naturally at night, reopening with daylight, a phenomenon known as nyctinasty.

The plants supplied will be similar to those in the photographs, however, being living beings, depending on the stage of the vegetative cycle they are in, they may vary in shape, appearance or size, presenting variations compared to the images.
