Light: Prefers direct sun for most of the day. It also tolerates shade, though it will grow more slowly.
Temperature: Just look at its origin—deserts, prairies, and mountains—to see it adapts well to a wide range of temperatures. Outdoors, it should be protected from frost and cold winds. However, once planted in the ground or well-established, its hardiness means it’s unlikely to wither.
Watering: Quite tolerant of moderate drought. Let the soil dry out completely before watering again and ensure good drainage. Never let water sit in the saucer or the bottom of a decorative pot (without drainage holes).
Fertilisation: Fertilise once or twice during spring and summer.
Soil: Prefers fertile soil rich in organic matter.
Pruning: Not necessary, but damaged leaves can be removed as needed in spring. If planted in the ground and growth gets out of hand, perform maintenance pruning.
Not Pet Friendly: This plant is toxic to pets.
